Common Greens redefines overlooked urban fragments—residual spaces with basic vegetation—as vital connectors within the city. Found between lanes, in parking areas, or hidden in backyards, these spaces lack formal function but hold potential as shared, flexible grounds for collective use. Rather than redesigning them, the project highlights their existing character, marking them with wooden threshold elements—steps, doors, benches—to create a visual and spatial network. In doing so, ‘Common Greens’ forms a connective layer that bridges the newly developed area along Sonnwendgasse with the existing fabric of Vienna’s 10th district.
